Who We Are
Our Roots
Here at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding on March 10, 1917, thirteen believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, led by the Reverends W.M. Dickerson and W.E. Clark, met in the home of Ike Richardson to organize a Baptist church. A building was donated to the new congregation to conduct worship services. The church began to prosper financially and numerically, coming together under Pastor Dickerson’s leadership. Later, the property at 920 Harding Avenue was purchased and remodeled. However, the congregation outgrew this facility in 1921, and the property at 943 Harding Avenue was purchased and a brick structure was built on the spot. The church was led well by its founding pastor in 1922. From 1912 through 1995, nineteen men of God served as pastor.
After a 19-month pastoral vacancy, the call was extended to Rev. Terry M. Clark, who on February 28, 1996, with his pastoral duties beginning on March 17th. He was installed during the Memorial Day weekend. Currently, the church has an ongoing audiovisual ministry, Praise Team, and two choirs, JAG Dance Ministry, ROCK-ITS children’s church, women’s ministry, community outreach during the year, including the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and an active Watch Care ministry.
During Pastor Clark’s tenure two ministers have been ordained and now are pastors, along with four more have been licensed. Also, three men have been ordained as deacons. Additionally, in 2017 the church held a glorious celebration of it Centennial year!
We are grateful for what God has done, and according to Philippians 3:13-14, we continually reach forth to those things before us, and believe, in Christ, that the goal He has set for St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church is reachable.
To God be the Glory!
